Unusual ligament of the scapula
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction Customary dissection in the Physical Therapy Anatomy Laboratory yielded a unilateral left-sided scapular ligament variation in a single cadaver. The embalmed specimen was a 58-year-old Caucasian male. The primary finding was a variant ligament which spanned across the supraspinous fossa in inferior to superior orientation. The suprascapular nerve and artery were seen passing under the variant ligament. Although variations in the transverse scapular ligament and spinoglenoid ligament have been documented, the author is not aware of any description which matches the variant ligament described in the current case.

Osteoid Osteoma in the Neck of the Scapula; A Misleading Case
Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor that when located on the base of the coracoids process of the scapula is very rare and diagnosis and treatment is often delayed because of its rarity. Almost any bone can be involved, but half of cases involve the femur or tibia. The radiologic features of osteoid osteoma are well known, but these tumors may present with unusual features and be easily misd...
متن کاملScaling and kinematics optimisation of the scapula and thorax in upper limb musculoskeletal models
Accurate representation of individual scapula kinematics and subject geometries is vital in musculoskeletal models applied to upper limb pathology and performance. In applying individual kinematics to a model's cadaveric geometry, model constraints are commonly prescriptive. These rely on thorax scaling to effectively define the scapula's path but do not consider the area underneath the scapula...

MPNST is very aggressive and likes to have distant metastasis. Skeletal involvement is usually secondary to soft tissue origin. Tumors of the scapula are unusual clinical challenges. Partial or complet...
متن کاملAn Unrecognised Case of a Scapula Fracture Sustained through an Unusual Indirect Mechanism
Scapula fractures following low-velocity injuries are extremely rare but can be a missed associated fracture of other upper limb injuries. We describe the case of a patient who sustained a fracture of the scapula through an unusual and hitherto unreported indirect mechanism. The injury was associated with a radial head fracture and initially missed on presentation. This case highlights the need...
متن کاملMorphological and Radiological Study of Ossified Superior Transverse Scapular Ligament as Potential Risk Factor of Suprascapular Nerve Entrapment
The suprascapular notch is covered superiorly by the superior transverse scapular ligament. This region is the most common place of suprascapular nerve entrapment formation. The study was performed on 812 specimens: 86 dry scapulae, 104 formalin-fixed cadaveric shoulders, and 622 computer topography scans of scapulae. In the cases with completely ossified superior transverse scapular ligament, ...
